Trailer
Playbill – April 2024
Misplaced are excited to return to The Alma Tavern Theatre with this mesmerising Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning play. Made into a film with Meryl Streep and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, Shanley’s work is a lean, potent drama of suspicion and manipulation.
In a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, a year after the assassination of John F Kennedy, Sister Aloysius, the severely conservative and fear-inspiring School Principal, learns that the popular school priest Father Flynn has taken ‘special interest’ in a troubled twelve-year old African American student. She sets about uncovering the perceived sexual abuse with a vengeance, setting off a chain of events which threatens to dismantle the community.
Originally produced on Broadway by Carole Shorenstein Hays, MTC Productions, Roger Berlind and Scott Rudin on March 31, 2005.
Originally produced by the Manhattan Theatre Club on November 23, 2004.
